Tabata Mitsuru - Lumrapideco [Utech Records - 2008]Lumrapideco presents 6 tracks of sometimes quirky, sometimes windswept and often sprinkled with noise instrumental music that falls some where between experimental/ space rock, folk, retro electronica and drone craft. Utlizing electric guitar, guitar synth, synths, percussion & voice textures. The tracks alternate between being playful, spacey and almost day-glow singed with noise jerks/pitches. To expansive, filmatic and darker/ more brutal hues. At times it feels like it could go all out into a noise attack but it never does, Mitsuru steers his soundship through tracks that are full of character, building atmosphere and an hypnotic air. Most of the tracks sit at around the 9 minute mark meaning he builds up his sonic point to a tangible and almost visual inducing level, but the ideas are never stretched or pulled out too long. Mitsuru was one of the founding members of The Boredoms and now as well as solo work plays with likes of Acid Mothers Temple & Zeni Geva, etc. This is the first of his solo work I’ve heard and I’m very impressed with the often nice balance of quirkiness and atmosphere on display through out,All in all another great release in the always consistent and reliable Arc series.
