Giorgio Gaslini - Rivelazioni di un maniaco(Relevlations of a sex Ma [Fin de Siècle Media - 2007]Gaslini soundtrack for this 1971 Giallo film goes from rich and haunted female wailed main theme, to more eerier discordant, jazzy and dark experimental waters & back to easy listening melodics and camp-ness. This really has everything you’d expect from a good to great Giallo soundtrack, a memorable piano and string rich yet slightly melancholy main theme that pops up a few times, a selection of easy listening cheese. But the most impressive thing here are the more out-there elements like; neat almost noise type scrapes, shakes and weird percussive elements,Deranged/ creepy merry-go round xylophone led jazz spins, doomy bass runs with females ‘ahh’s’, brass stabs & dark string saws. With 16 alternative/ bonus track as well as the original soundtrack, it comes in quite lengthy for a soundtrack at the 50 minute mark. As usual with Fin de Siëcle reissues it comes in a full-colour fold 6 panel Digipak, with the great dramatic blood-red/ black cover art, the yellow text on black back ground and some nice risky promo art from the film. A fine 70’s soundtrack with a great main theme, some neat weird elements and loads of deranged atmosphere & cheesy fun.    Roger Batty
