Tigertailz - Thrill Pistol [Castle Music - 2007]We all have guilty pleasures music and otherwise- One of mine is poppy over the top, big-hair glam metal, the cheesy and more anthem like the better, its nice turn off your mind to music that’s memorable & fun- hell you can’t listen to noise or on-the-edge avant music all the time, we all need light relief. Tigertailz fit the Cheesy Glam bracket perfectly - Hell check the bands name and their last big album back in the late 80’s Berserk is a stone cold, bubble gum chewing overblown glam classic. Thrill Pistol is their second album after their comeback a few years back and I have to say it’s highly enjoyable, with some surprising and creative elements up and beyond typical Glam. There’s bits of chugging trash guitar work ,wonderings off into brief metallic prog elements, ethnic percussion, swooning dark string samples, and happy-go-lucky brit Punk guitar batterings. The band sounding both musical and vocally still fresh and full of fire- Which cant be said for many Glam metal bands from the 80’s (if their still around). Sure the music is full of cliché’s and rock riffs your sure you’ve heard before, but they pull it off with such style, charm and enough distinctive elements to make you want dive in again and again to get a sugar rush. It’s Just a great good time Rock ’n’ Glam record with some interesting new flavours along the way. So if your looking for a new guilty pleasure Thrill Pistol will more than fulfil it- simply put it rulez! Roger Batty
