Atläs - Catacombs [Elite tapes - 2007]Catacombs is Atläs debut release and also the first releaser from new Canada label Elite tapes. It offers up two effective and grim tracks of lo-fi and murky dark ambience. The thing that hit me straight away was the whole vibe carved out here it really brought to mind a more active, haphazard and noisy encrusted version of Yen Pox’s Debut Blood music. It has the same subterranean and sinter vibe, like you’re lost in dark underground waterways or finding your self awoken in a abounded tube tunnel, hearing distant scuttling and nerve putting on edge sounds. It’s a pity it could'nt really have been longer as it only plays at near 19 minutes, so you've just started to really creep yourself out and it finishers. Never the less its a good start and an effective little shocker for both the project and label, I look forward to seeing what the both do next. Avalible in CDR or tape versions-Sadly it's insanely ltd to only 28 copies but it appears they still have copies just here. Well worth a go if you enjoy murky and nasty dark ambience.
