The Perishing Of Faith - The Modern Day Crusades [Stemms Audio - 2025]The Modern Day Crusades serves up two twenty-five-minute slabs of thick ‘n’ grinding walled noise. With each track being as unforgiving and unrelenting as the other. The Perishing Of Faith is one of the projects of Cincinnati’s David Hilshorst, who is most known for the Whore’s Breath, though he has a few other projects, such as Use Blunt Object To Open, Hagen & Dismount, Polyester Ghost, and Sigoreny Meat Cleaver. The project started in 2024, and to date, has put out around ten or so releases. All of its work is focused on It is anti-faith, anti-religion, and nationalism themed ideas. This release is a self-released digital, which can be located here.
We open with “Human Liquidation Through Starvation”- this is a rapid & extremely dense wall, built around constantly cluttering & baying low-end end- which is woven with thinner jitter come hissing rattles. The ‘wall’ feels totally crushing, and as soon as you get pulled into its flow, there is no escape.
Next is “Imprisonment and Enslavement of the Poor, Weak and Mentally Ill”. Here we have a constantly rolling/ very slightly oscillating drone. This is topped with a taut weave of buffing, rushing, and rattling subtones. The track feels like looking into the back of an antiquated rocket as it's fired up again & again.
If you are looking for thick, truly unrelenting and bone-shaking wall craft, then, The Modern Day Crusades will satisfy that need. Roger Batty
