Koobaatoo Asparagus - Trinity of Wisdom [Gates Of Hypnos - 2025]Trinity of Wisdom is a new two-track album from this highly prolific/long-running Californian walled noise project. Both tracks roll in at the thirty-minute mark, and both are exercises in ball-busting/dense/ unforgiving HNW. The release is a digital affair, and unlike most of Koobaatoo Asparagus output, it’s not released on the project's own label, No Skinny Jeans, but instead appears on Poland’s Gates of Hypnos. Cover artwork-wise, we get a selection of monochrome illustrations of a people-headed tree, a crown/ winged figure holding a gauntlet, and a bird walking on earth. The release can be found here.
As already mentioned, each track comes in at the thirty mark. So first up, we have “Trinity Of Wisdom 1” which pairs a low-end, constantly rumbling boil/ judder with a manically skittering static grain. I’m getting images of an ancient rocket soaring up into the sky, with large sheets of battered metal attached to it, which is buffeting, scraping, shearing and breaking up. .
Next, there’s “Trinity Of Wisdom II “; this is a more roughshod/ less defined textured base wall. It consists of a rapid ‘n’ rolling bass tone, closely woven gritty rushes, and skittering grain subtone. If the first ‘wall’ was breaking into the sky in a rocket, this feels like said rocket is now rapidly falling through ragged clouds.
Trinity of Wisdom presents us with an hour’s worth of unrelenting walling, which both batters and appeals Roger Batty
