DJ Scotch Egg - Scotch Hausen [Very Freindly/ AD ADDAT - 2007]DJ Scotch Egg makes a mix of gabba game boy, happy hardcore, whizzing past colourful electronics with little hits of odd and often puzzling humour. Scotch Hausen is twenty four minute rush of happy game boy sounds, stop/start bits, Bach re-imagined in Gameboy land and general happy overloading chaos. By the end of it you either be exhilarated with a silly smile painted on your face, or you’ll have throw it out of the window, it really is love or hate/ depending on the mood music.I have to say I find it quite refreshing /unpretentious and when I’m in the mood it feels like been dropped in to a low grade game counsel game and been chased back and forth by a day glow monster, that every now and will try to tickle you. Most puzzling here is a near two minute track with a group of children in a classroom taking into the microphone and then start bizarre “La-la” singing, that reappears in later tracks mixed in with DJ Scotch Eggs happy digital and tuneful sounds. Surprisingly DJ Scotch Egg even shows he’s cable of tender haunted beauty, with the gamelan like lead enchanted melody of the last track An album for those of us who have never really grown up. Certainly a must avoid if you take all your music too serious for its own good. Going on treat your self to some day-glow mayhem & jump into DJ Scotch Eggs crazzzy world! Roger Batty
