Koobaatoo Asparagus - Sinful Secrets [No Skinny Jeans - 2025]Sinful Secrets is a recent bone-grinding and nerve-searing example of the walled noise from this long-running/ ultra prolific Californian project. The release features a single forty-minute track, which remains full, thick, and completely unforgiving throughout. This is a self-released digital album. Cover artwork-wise we have an old illustration of a woman appearing from out of an apple tree, with another person looking on, and at said woman's feet is a large white bow/ sheet. The release can be found here.
The single self-titled track comes in at dead on the forty-minute mark. The ‘wall’ is a relatively simplistic blend of a rolling ‘n’ purring bass tone, a mid-range billow, and a thinner scraping subtone. Weaved together, these elements create a pressing & taut weight, which is totally unforgiving.
Imagery-wise wise I’m getting images of one being tied tightly inside a huge drum as it steadily rolls on and on down a fairly smooth hillside. At points it feels like it may be becoming more bass-bound, or speeding up, but I think both of these are a trick of the ‘wall’, and in reality, the whole thing is highly firm, set, and unrelenting attack.
If you are after old-school, thick-bass bound, block the rest of the world out walled noise, then Sinful Secrets will most certainly do the trick Roger Batty
