Raté - Joie [Self release - 2025]Joie is a seventy-seven-minute trip into oppressively churning ‘n’ grimly roasting walled noise- with slight/ distant industrial undertones. The single track thickly wraps around you, and you get well ‘n’ truly pulled into its unrelenting/ crude flow. This is a self-released digital affair- been released directly by this Bordeaux-based project. Artwork we get a close-up shot of either mud or some form of thick grey substance- so simple but tone-fitting cover art. The release can be found here.
The self-titled track rolls in at a second over the seventy-seven-minute mark. The thickly suffocating ‘wall’ brings together- a faint constant churning knock, a mid-paced circling roasting/ cluttering tone, and shadowy baying- which may or may not been there. The whole thing feels like you're lost in some vast half-lite factory of constant churn and grim flame- and the farther you go in the more you feel weary/ worn down by the place- bumping into and stumbling over things.
Joie takes you on a dense and greily muffling trip into crude and terminal nihilistic walled noise. If you enjoy Vomir, or similarly crude/ numbing wall craft- give this a try. Roger Batty
