Koobaatoo Asparagus - House Of Bondage [No Skinny Jeans - 2025]House Of Bondage severs up two half-an-hour slabs of grinding ‘n’ searing walled noise from this ultra-prolific California project. With each being as unforgiving, yet appealingly intense as the other. This is a digital release that appears on the project's own label No Skinny Jeans. The cover art features an old line drawing of a well-dressed 1800s white lady being led into a wooden structure by a dark headbanded figure. The release can be found here
Each of the tracks featured runtimes of dead on thirty minutes. The first of these is “School”- here we find a rattling noise billow, which is underfed by subtones of constantly reeling static, and industrial-like churn. The whole thing is simplistic, yet effective in its unbearable attack- which seems to be constantly drilling deeper and deeper into one's grey matter.
Next, we have “Bondage”. Here we find a set/ slightly muffled bass drone, which is edged with a steady rattling subtone, and distant swirling grain feast. This ‘wall’ has rather a subterranean feel- and at points, you swear you can smell damp earthy air.
House Of Bondage is another worthy release in Koobaatoo Asparagus's rapidly growing body of work. If you are after crude, world-blocking out, and intense/ no-nonsense walling, this fits the bill. Roger Batty
