Amateur Porn Star Killer 3: The Final Chapter is the last in this series of Faux Snuff films. It really takes from each of the previous films, from Part 1 it takes the mumblecore dialogue and wavering/ wondering soundtracking. From Part 2 it takes in moments of hardcore sex & stalking footage. Here from Wild Eye’s Raw & Extreme series is a region-free DVD of the film- taking in a commentary track, and a trailer. 

Amateur Porn Star Killer 3: The Final Chapter is from the year 2009.  Once again it’s directed by, co-written and stars Canoga Park, California-born Shane Ryan-Reid. Between the mid-90s and the present day, he has an impressive sixty-two directorial credits- taking in five features, with the remainder being made up of shorts & anthologies. The full lengths move between thriller Big Boobs, Blonde Babes, Bad Blood (2006), street-based teen drama The Girl Who Wasn’t Lost (2011), and three Amateur Porn Star Killer films.
 

This third film has the longest runtime of all of the three films one hour and nineteen minutes- and really at points this is an issue, there’s far too much padding around the midway with rather uneventful driving footage. And really this type of thing needs to be around the hour/ just over mark- as otherwise, it starts to become trying, and less effective.

Just like the other two films we follow twenty-something thriller/ sex killer Brandon( Ryan-Reid). We jump straight into the film- with the first ten minutes of the film jarringly cutting between lightly brooding/ unsettling car-bound stalking, and Brandon pulling a woman from out of his car's trunk to belittle/ rape/ abuse her on some dusty abandoned farmland on a hot day. The credits then roll, and we next switch between him picking up and then attacking two separate women- one from the beach, and the other in his car at night- a few minutes later we have yet more credits, finally getting to the central story.

The central story finds Brandon picking up a woman from a bus stop in the middle of the night- saying he’ll drive her to the train she got to catch. What follows is around thirty-plus minutes of driving around further & further out of town. At a point, Brandon starts pushing for the woman to undress, and she’s seemingly not what she first seemed a fairly reserved young woman going to see her parents in LA-  she’s covered in tattoos & has a history of online porn. And much like the first two films- things go from bad to worse for her, first getting bullied into stripping, then forced to carry out sexual acts. This main part of the film certainly has some very uncomfortable/ unpleasant moments- but personally, I felt the early pre-credits kidnap scenes are the most effective- as the actress in this part totally sells fear & panic.

Amateur Porn Star Killer 3: The Final Chapter certainly manages moments of tension/ unsettlement, and it’s a passable sequel. I just feel the length rather damages both its general impact/ pace- because at the end of the day, it's a Faux Snuff, not some epic, and at points along its way I found both boredom & disinteresting rising, which is the last thing you want with this type of thing.

Extras wise, aside from the trailers, we get a commentary track from Doug Brunell of Film Threat. He begins by talking about possible reasons for the third film. Mentioning, how, unlike the other films, the lead actress was an adult actress. He talks about how he feels with this film there is a sense of desperation and nastiness- with the killer becoming more unhinged. He mentions a review he read of the film online, where the reviewer talks about finding the film arousing- which is most troubling. He touches on how the film was first filmed in 3D. He discusses how the film doesn’t sit squarely in either the adult or horror genre- and how this will be difficult for viewers expecting one or the other.  He talks about how the three films make for an artistic statement, and the claustrophobic feel of the largely car-based setting of the film.  Later on, he talks about how he feels that this is a good end to this series because if he did any more  Ryan-Reid would have to add in more violence/ gore- which he doesn’t want to do.  We find out the lead actress was comfortable with the director/ lead actor. It’s an ok track, though it might have been nice to have more details of the interviews Burnell has done with the cast & the director.

Amateur Porn Star Killer 3: The Final Chapter is a good enough conclusion to this series- with Ryan-Reid once again managing to create moments of tension, panic, and sleazy uneasiness.
