Lucid Dreams is a two-track release from California's Harsh wall noise project Koobaatoo Asparagus. This self-released digital album takes in two dead-on twenty-minute tracks- with each being decidedly dense & punishing.

Cover artwork we have an old line-drawn illustration of a two-head split man- with a thin moon above one head and a glare above the other. The release can be found/ downloaded here. With both tracks featured been self-titled.

The first ‘wall’ is constructed around a set rocket engine roar- this is surrounded by a choppy/ darting selection of small hacks, cracks, and fuzzes. The whole thing has a nicely pressing yet intense feel to its flow, and over several plays, I’m making out some nice sub-tone detail. All in all an engaging ‘wall’.

The second ‘wall’ is a little more open & less compacted- though still nicely punishing. It brings together a muffled ‘n’ droned out low end-  this is surrounded with mesh of loose rattling ‘n’ juddering tones. The low end gives the whole thing a nice earthy pressure, while the rattling ‘n’ jittering tone nicely shifts from grainy mid-ranged to more searing higher pitched fan belt-like slippings.

Both ‘walls’ featured here are well realized- and vary from each other, but also complement each too. All of this makes Lucid Dreams a consistent forty-minute wall noise trip. So another worthy release from this long-running, and highly prolific US wall noise venter.
