The Punks - Unanimous Bangers [5RC - 2006]The punks make lo-fi guitar noise music, rippled with early Residents like rhythmic poundings, and all manner of lo grade effects. The album wonders drunkenly through haphazard rhythmic swaying, to more rich and mudded drone textures, and lo-budget crude space jams. They litter their noisy psychedelic structures with odd and guttural moans and calls, like a B movie interpretation of bizarre coffee cup marked hell. Each track drags into the next, as they sway and stager around for a little, trying not to trip over it’s self, then stop. As mentioned before this does really bring to mind early Resident’s stuff, but with a more modern noisy gitar edge. You keep expecting an early Residents sinister cartooned voice to sail in, its like the more guitar and rhythmic based moments on 1973's 3rd Reich And Roll. This is wonky wrong music, made by and for wonky wrong sounding people- which along the way does raise some splendid moments of rough and ready chaos. With out doubt of interest to those who like a little audio rough and tumbled, with wrong sounding guitars and seasick rhythmic waltz and a bucket full of audio oddness.
