After the very succesful Fantômas album, 'The Director's Cut', Mike Patton returns with his new project Tomahawk.

Often, when you get familiar with an album, there is a single word that pretty much sums up this particular experience. 'Intriguing', 'overwhelming', 'satiating, 'irrelevant' or plain 'awful', for example.

The seventh studio album of the Yorkshire outfit My Dying Bride is here, an album for which we've waited for with nervous anticipation.

You've probably all heard it. Emperor decided to call it quits.I don't know why -but a possible reason might well be that they thinkthey can't possibly top this here album. If that is the case, I canonly agree it would be near impossible to do so.

Electric boogie, breakdance, grafitti, computergames, synthesizers and drumcomputers: the early eighties had its own typical style of American urban culture. New technology defined the sound of rejuvenated funk and early hiphop.

"Energetic, impracticable, a nightmare of possibilities & opportunities and a logistical horror of complexity". Fripp's words about the double trio version of King Crimson display the mixed feelings this line-up evokes.

A slow, grinding stream of hot lava scorches your ears while listening to the debut album of Khanate. Now this is DOOOOM! 'No Joy' as the last song is called: no pretty grooves or other 'stoner'-snugness.

What? A power metal album reviewed on Musique[Machine]? What's going on?

Wow! My whole CD collection on one CD! Now this is a space-saving alternative for the open-minded musiclover! Estradasphere might even be the most diverse band in existence.

A Silver Mt. Zion is looking (I said "looking", not "sounding") more like Godspeed You Black Emperor with every release. They went from 3 members to 6 now with an expanded name that makes even acronyms useless (ie. ASMTMO&T-L-LB).

Techno mixed up with country, blues and gospel samples. Sounds like a strange combination, doesn't it? Strangely enough, it works, on Moby's "Play".

"Cuz nothing's worse than a suicide chump" Frank Zappa once sung: now imagine five of 'em! Misunderstood in their hometown Coalinga because of their disfigured appearance as a consequence of their suicide attempts they chose to vent their frustration through music.

Perhaps I could have chosen a better moment to review a CD with such a title, but I'll do it anyway. Mainly because it deserves to be reviewed.

Although the wave of bizarre experimental projects arisen from the Norwegian ex-black metal soil has multiplied aggressively during the last few years, Solefald will be most likely remembered as pioneers on this area, even considering the versatility and creativity of the other contesters.

Oh, what do we have here? Hmm, this is definitely not for fans of the more "traditionally" structured & played music and here's the problem I have with this review: the people who will like this probably know the genre much better than I so they will find my review inadequate and the people who won't like this, well, they won't like it anyway.

Honestly? At first I thought I wouldn't like it. The production is pretty low-fi: everything sounds muffled (except the keyboard), the guitar is inaudible most of the time, the singer sounds distant... "Not a great first impression" is the least I could say.

Here it is, one of the most highly anticipated metal/hard-rock (well, much more than that actually - hard to categorize) album of the year and, what a coincidence, it also happens to be one of the juiciest!

Jonas Renske is definitely a very troubled individual; he probably was second in the 'problem distribution' line (right after Bin Laden) if his lyrics are to be believed. Mind you, I'm not complaining - it makes great music!

Empiricism, it's the long-awaited new Borknagar album. With 2 new members in the line-up, Tyr on bass and Vintersorg on vocals, who are both replacing Simen Hestnæs.

Century Media is not a label that has a habit of signing garage bands and, even before listening to this new Scar Culture album, we can presume that it's no exception... And what a surprise! It is not!

Enya is back with her first new studio album in five years.

A new CD by Krang -oh brave new world that has such wonderful things in it ! And then my inspiration runs dry. Not that I can't thinkof anything to say, it's rather that I want to say so much it's all lumping together and blocking the exit.

What can we expect from an album that was recorded and mixed in 6 days? A lot!

Institut is one of the newer acts on Cold Meat Industry. Since some years CMI have obviously moved into a direction which combines the usual dark ambient with the more unusual power electronics / noise music. Institut definitely belongs to the latter group.
