Personal favourite "...In The Woods" will, after some delay, release the double live album from their last show. It was recorded at Caledonien hotel, Kristiansand, Norway, in late december 2000. The album holds twenty songs from the band's career, including a full coverage of their second (and most acclaimed) album, "Omnio". More details here.

The next two volumes for the Steve Vai's Secret Jewel Box are planned for release in about 6 weeks. Archives vol. 3 will feature all Japanese bonustracks including Just Cartilage with Devin Townsend 'out of control, as usual', as Steve put it. Archives vol. 4 will be made up of contributions to all kinds of soundtracks, compilations and tributes. This explains the delay, the licensing of these tracks has been the most difficult part of compiling this disc.
Radiohead and Sigur Rós will head to the US in October for a collaboration with choreographer Merce Cunningham at the Brooklyn Academy of Music. The two bands will create music for Cunningham's troupe, which will dance to their live performances. It will be quite experimental because on the day of the performance the bands see the dance for the first time and the dancers hear the music for the first time. Nothing is known about a release yet.

Desert Sessions number 9 and 10 will be released on one CD by Ipecac Recordings in mid-august. These sessions feature PJ Harvey, Dean Ween, Josh Freese, Alain Johannes, Natasha Shneider, Twiggy Ramirez and Joey Castillo. I definatly can't wait for it, that's why I recently ordered the previous Desert Sessions. Now, I'm not crazy enough to pay $30.- for a CD on Ebay, so I discovered this cute little webstore from Josh Homme's Rekords Rekords, with all of the sessions in stock. Forget Ebay, get them here.
Finally, the long anticipated album Chinese Democracy will be released. Except this one won't feature Axl, Buckethead and er.. whoever is still with Guns 'n Roses. No Chinese Democracy is the new The Offspring album. Nice steal by Dexter Holland. Axl is pissed, but can't start any legal actions against the band. The title alone will assure huge sales...

Some weird Dream Theater news: an imposter pretending to be Mike Portnoy used Portnoy's identity to steal wallets, creditcards and other goods from various people. He seemed to have studied Portnoy's career and private life extensively. Victim Chris Caffery from Savatage hung out with the con and told people even recognized that person as the Dream Theater drummer. The imposter has been arrested.
It was a hot night in San Rafael, California on August 20, 1999. Buckethead, Extrakd, Brain and DJ Eddie Def were in the studio and decided to rehearse for a future upcoming show. They recorded with one mic plugged straight into a cassette player and now it has been transferred onto CD for your enjoyment. Experience the blended sounds of guitar played by Buckethead, bass and sp808 played by Extrakd, drums played by Brain, turntables and a mpc2000 played by DJ Eddie Def on this rare recording, El Stew: The Rehearsal. This is a limited gem exclusively offered in Buckethead's Toystore.
