Jane Child
About ten years ago, Warner heard a demo tape by a Canadian singer and keyboard-player Jane Child. They signed her and her first single became a huge hit in the USA.

Virgin Black
Virgin Black, how do they sound? Hard to explain. I'm sure the band members themselves have trouble answering that question without feeling like they are leaving much unsaid.

Ben Wa
The Californian duo Ben Wa thusfar recorded two CD's on which respectively expanded the horizons of dub reggae and electronic funk.

Article
I figured that many Musique[Machine] readers could be interested by book suggestions/reviews so today I present you an old sci-fi classic: Ringworld by Larry Niven. Here's what the author has to say about Ringworld on the back cover of the book:

Icon Of Coil
One of the leading acts in the Norwegian EBM scene is without doubt Icon Of Coil. Currently the band is working hard on the follow-up to the highly successful debut full-length album "Serenity Is The Devil". So far only the album title is revealed, "Soul Is In The Software", but I had the opportunity to talk to Sebastian Komor to ask him some questions...

Editorial
So finally we decided to introduce ourselves to the Musique Machine readers. After more than 6 months, we found the guts to update this page. It's not totally original, we know that millions of other music sites do the same thing, but hey, it's always interesting to read, yes it's time for the year lists.

Estradasphere
One of the greatest bands to emerge from the USA lately is Estradasphere. All the records have been reviewed on our site so one can read about those in our reviews section.

Green Carnation
Here is an interview with Green Carnation's mastermind: Tchort (ex-Emperor among others).

Death
Chuck Schuldiner, musician extraordinaire and one of my heroes, has died.

James Plotkin
Guitarists explored the possibilities of the guitar in many ways. Many people, from Derek Bailey to Robert Fripp, from Fred Frith to Keiji Haino used playing-techniques and electronic processing to expand the possibilities of the guitar. James Plotkin is eager to find new sounds and defy the conventions of music.

Opeth
I think that the problem with Opeth is that they are too good at what they do for their own good, but before disagreeing, let me explain the context.

Faith No More
There are some albums that tell a story, there are some that are inspired by a story...And there are those that just make you relive some scenes from already existing stories; they utilize the ambience from somewhere else as a foundation to the music - in my opinion, and I don't know many others who share this belief with me but I nonetheless believe, on some intuitive level, that Faith No More - King for a Day is one of those albums.

Column
It seems that it's time again for another edition of Pop Deconstructed. This time I'll do something a little different and instead of reviewing songs from the Billboard "Hot 100" I'll lend an ear to the top 5 of the "Modern Rock" charts. Who knows, maybe it'll be a more pleasant experience than last time.

Farmers Market
The Norwegian band Farmers Market is gaining a new audience being presented to a jazz audience being signed to jazzlabel Winter & Winter and by playing jazzfestivals like North Sea Jazz.

Preview
After 2 days an official statement about the leaked Mike Patton tracks came out. According to Greg from Ipecac records 2 of the tracks might end up developing into Peeping Tom songs. The other 4 might end up somewhere else.

Column
Here is the first edition of an editorial column about the Pop top5 (taken from the "Hot 100" at Billboard.com). I must admit that I am a little apprehensive about listening to all those pop songs. It feels like entering somewhere that has a police perimeter and the coroner's van parked in front; you know you're going to find something stinky!

Devin Townsend
Terria is the name of Devin "how many projects" Townsend's latest baby. Of course, it's always impossible to say which child you love the most, but the father seemed very enthusiastic about this one.

The Residents
Only two years after the Wormwood show at the Holland Festival, The Residents are back to promote their DVD Icky Flix.
