6YPAH — Prozorno Mesto

6YPAH (Buran) are a Slovenian/Friulian duo who mix elements of post-punk strumming’s, 80s synth pop, and light prog/ krautrock touches- all finished off with male sang-in Slovene vocals. Prozorno Mesto is the band's second release, after a self-released CDR in 2023.

The six-track CD features track runtimes between two and seven minutes. Throughout, the pair largely manage to get an even balance between rewarding retro-ness, playful/ experimental touches, and memorable songcraft.

We move from the tight snapping/ tom edged electro beats, indie guitar strum, synth throb, joint sing-song vocals, and warbling electro tone detail of “Neugörz”. Onto the brooding bass buzzing meets bright, stabbing synth tones of instrumental “Supersila” with its fading-in beats, 80’s guitar washes, and choppy techno tones. The release plays out with “ Pod Nebom”, with its snapping beats, bass guitar throb, bright/ jaunty synth tones, clean guitar strums, and coolly crooning vocals.

As a release, Prozorno Mesto manages to present its retro-focused sound well, balancing an authentic sound with great songwriting tropes, and Slovene vocals really enhance the whole thing. I’ll most certainly be keeping an ear out for future work from 6YPAH.
