Worms Of Sabnock — Dark Harmonies
The really seem to have there own take on black metal beyond the experimental elements, sure you can hear connection with other bands and traces of their sound, like early Cradle of Filth and more epic Bathory moments, Akercocke in the clear vocals department, topped with Norwegian black riffing. But there’s enough here of their own personality to stand out from the crowd, it almost has a grim medieval feel in places, but never going total folky medieval, more bleakly soundtrack element, for some reason bit’s bring to mind Brit 70’s Horror movie “Blood on Satan’s Claw” . The none metal moments are the more enjoyable element here, though the riffs and memorable and well presented. Dark mellow moments like The barren acoustic guitar and flute dance of Uncertain Light- that weaves some wonderful autumnal colours.
One of the more impressive black metal in a long time, certainly the best black metal band to appear from the UK in quite some time. A band assured of great Black future. To find out more about them go here.
