Where The Dead Woke Up — Esumazione

Esumazione is a just over thirty-five-minute slice churning ‘n’ numbing walled noise, with a distinctive necro/ out-from-the grave feel. The whole ‘wall’ has a decidedly loose/ ill-defined feel, which is strangely engaging/ engulfing.

Behind Where The Dead Woke Up is South Italy-based Roger Kemper ( Old Leather, Unenjoyable Records), and this is the project's second release to date. This is a digital release appearing on Scranton, South Carolina’s Dying Monolith HNW.

The untitled track runs at the 35.13 mark. It brings together distant and slowly rumbling/ billowing lows, mid-range cluttering, and rolling hiss. The whole ‘wall’ is extremely murky & ill-defined in its unfolding, like you're hearing it from under a large pile of sodden & decaying funeral gowns. It very much weighs down & presses out hope or escape- and as your mind tries to follow the patterns/ textures, you get even more deeply wrapped in the whole thing- like troubling dreamer tangled up in sweat-drenched bed sheets.

If you enjoy hope snuffing out/ dank crypt hazedwalled-noise, then Esumazione will most certainly appeal. And I look forward to hearing what Mr Kemper does next.
