Valborg — Romantik
The band have been in existence since the early 2000’s, and by all accounts started off as a progressive doom/ death metal project- but really now I’d say they are now memorable & dark pop laced doom metal. Think a more synth based, theatrical & Germanic take on Type O Negative, & you’ll get an idea of what to expect here.
The album offers up six tracks in all, and these run between the five to eight minutes a piece. And each of the tracks mangers to both bring together slow marching doomy memorably, atmosphere, and a slightly campy dark-ness. Vocally the band more from anthemic chanted male vocals, onto theatrical dark pop, through to a few more growled & shirked moments. All of the tracks here are in the german tongue which add a nice edge to the proceedings.
With Romantik Valborg have created an album that it’s both heavy, moody, yet highly memorable. So if you enjoy tuneful yet darkly ‘n’ moody doom/ synth music this is well worth a look.
