Vacant Brain — Gut Full Of Maggots
Now here we have a release with a perfectly fitting title… as this just over fourteen-minute ‘wall’ literally sounds like a mass of bone-white squirminess, just about to burst, ready to fill your nostrils with sour decay and your vision with a mass of white, seething wriggle.
Vacant Brain has been active since 2023, with 17 releases to date. Over its existence, it’s had a bit of a shifting line-up, but presently it’s made up of Iowa’s Kevin Erhardt-Hansen ( Olik Nesnah, Dreaming Apparition, Haunted Lullaby), and South Carolina’s Krys Marshall (Absurd Reality, No Fun Harsh Noise, etc).
The digital release features a single/ self-titled track- which comes in at the 14.14 mark. The ‘wall’ is an oppressive & slightly glitchy electronics affair- bringing together an airless blend of stretching, budging, and searing hiss- all topped by these jittering lines of electro purring/ baying judder- almost as if the guts are slowly being cut in several locations- with the vile white squirminess pouring out.
So, if you're looking for ghoulish/ yet taut electro-edged wall craft, give Gut Full Of Maggots a go…and I’ll most certainly be checking out some of Vacant Brain’s other releases.
