Vacant Align — 71226
71226 is a new release from this bleak and atmospheric wall noise project. This digital self-released affair finds this Wisconsin venture serving up a single/ dead on forty five minute wall that has a decidedly weather-bound/ battering ‘n’ baying feel.
As always with this project's releases, we get a monochrome/ stark/ abstract cover art. It looks like an inverted and stretched picture of a humanoid figure… maybe trying to walk through a windstorm.
The single-track blends rapidly swirling bass bays, general sways & low-key whistles- with grainy rattles, and juddering buffets. This project's work is normally more focused ambience; this is much more a rapidly shifting and dense affair- very much plays into the storm-type quality of the whole thing- yet there is still a sense of mystery and unease about the ‘wall’.
Once more, this is another great ‘wall’ from Vacant Align, and I’d say one of my favourites to date- as I’ve landed up returning to it again and again.
