[Untitled] — Untitled
The track’s ‘wall’ is built around a mixture of three key tones: A forlorn & haunting locked billowing wind like tone, a muffled & aged juddering back drone, and a grainy mid-tone almost industrial ebbed static slowed yet feasting tonality. Ramirez & Matzus knit these elements into a very weathered, barren and hopeless ‘wall’ that brings to mind winter weather battered street underpasses, or lonely seaside seating shelter in stormy later October, or emotional troubled walks in bitterly cold late autumnal forests. The pair really do manager to soak the track in this bitter yet troubled autumnal raging sonic feeling which really doesn’t sound like anything that either party has done before in each of their many projects- sure this is clearly still walled noise, but it’s a lot more bleak & troubled in it’s intent.
This is my first taster of this new Ramirez/Matzus project, and I must say they’ve managed to do something fairly fresh yet suitable bleak, troubled & morose with this new project. I very much look forward to hearing future [Untitled] releases, and I can strongly recommend this release to those after unforgiving yet emotionally bleak & troubled walled noise.
