Tom Brosseau — Cavalier
When I first heard Mr Brosseau voice it brought to mind the rich unchained melodic wonder of Marc Boland( of T-rex) but with of course an American current running through it- swept and sunbeaterned by the Continent changing season and personality. The songs are honest to goodness rich in melodic and atmospheric air- having a timeless quality with none of the more quirky experimental edges of more modern folk. His literary and descriptive lyrics fall with such ease and honesty, it feels like your following Brosseau on a trip across of the American of the past either by foot, on a stolen train ride or in the back of over crowded and hay strewn pick-up truck .
An enjoyable, melodic and immaculately played 40 minutes of American folk richly ribbed with Brosseau wonderful voice. It’s an album you want to travel through again and again.
