Tinokuknoi Arevulopapo is the new project from Lea Cummings (King Futile, Kylie Minoise, Official Music Team, etc) and Sarah Glass, who has collaborated with Lea on a few projects. The project takes its name from a character in a Philip K. Dick short story, and Irata is a single-track affair. The forty-seven-minute instrumental track shifts between droned-out moodiness, ritual alien sound-scaping, tolling ambient industrial, and beyond

For the track, the pair are playing a mix of guitars, synthesisers, tenor recorder, and percussion. There is most certainly a sci-fi feel to the whole thing, and I guess references-wise think a mix of Birchville Cat Motel, My Cat Is An Alien, and early Tangerine Dream.

The track shifts through several phrases, around every fifteen minutes or so. It opens with this blend of locked & malevolently tolling guitar, spacey ‘n’ eerily hissing synth drones, and these distant, creepy, chiming tones. We then switch into more of an alien/ethnic ritual vibe- with a mixture of twangs, darts, sweeps, and warbles. Before later shifting to blends of slow percussive clangs and angular drones.

Irata is a great opening shot from Tinokuknoi Arevulopapo, and if you're looking for long-form sci-fi focused soundscaping, it is well worth a look. It would be the perfect soundtrack for reading some of Mr Dick’s work or similar Sci-fi fiction
