The Mount Fuji Doom Jazz Corporation — DoomJazz Future Corpses!

This project name is  rather ltd in its scope and appeal which is a pity as there’s much more going on here than simply doom or jazz. There’s eqreal amount of modern classical, apocalyptic cinematics, dark deep space prog, murky dread filled and fearful improvising.

I would imagine that if someone were to buy this expecting it to be like bohren und der club of gore’s  Black Earth, they’d feel rather puzzled and disappointed. The album runs near the 70 minute mark and was recorded by the seven piece  live this year in Holland- the sound tools used to make their mystical and black audio soup were Trombone, Oscillator, Cello, Bass, Guitar, Sax and vocals and by the sounds of it too a few effects peddles and electronics as well. Spilt into nine tracks but really working best as one long track, its slides out of one’s speaker feeling like a bizarre audio Gothic horror meets intergalactic terror with a stop off down a few smoky 1920’s alleyways along the way. It ushers you from one dread filled & dark musically high to another- never staying in one genre or sound for too long but always keep it nice and creepy. The music feels very free yet controlled and focused in its intent to create the darkest vibe possible. The album has a nice feel of peaks and valleys too, one minute you’ll be treading careful through dark cinematic forests, next minute you’ll be dragged down with lumbering metallic chug, Or engulfed by regal and timeless decaying  space  grandeur.

An involving and varied horror soaked audio trip that needs an ear for improvised and not necessary easy music to fully appreciate this.
