Tôle-Ache — 11 Victims Of Henri Désiré Landru
Now here's a ‘wall’ noise track that manages to blend panic and brooding dread rather well. The around-hour-long creation finds this Stuttgart, Germany-based project serving up something fairly interesting in the wall noise form
The Henri Désiré Landru of the release title was a French serial killer- who was charged with murdering ten women & one teenager in the year 1921. So I’m not sure how the cover- largely an inverted picture of a road tunnel connects to this title……anyway, this is a self-released digital affair….links up above!
The single/ self titled track is centred around a selection of ( seemingly) looped textures- there is a shrill alarm-like tone, an uneasy purring tone, and a few dragging/ rattling subtones. Seemingly, as the track progresses, there appears to be extra detail added- be it a new/ more complex knocking sub-tone, the purr lengthens, or a more judder-bound electro tone….but I’m undecided if these changes are really happening, or it’s a trick of the ‘wall’.
11 Victims Of Henri Désiré Landru is a ‘wall’ you can well & truly fall into- get locked into the different patterns or tones. Though I’m not really sure about the confusion between the release's title and artwork….so with that in mind I’ll give this a three and a half, but as we only do full marks…I’ll give it a three
