Small Hours — Pulse II
Like the first Pulse release, the track comes on a 3inch cdr which features a single twenty minute track of very quiet, subtle and very hushed textured noise. But unlike the first Pulse release this is thankfully recorded at a more audible and higher level, so you can make out a bit more textural detail. The track is built around a rather pleasing and slowly ebbing rumble- to me it rather brings to mind the soft and constant rumble of a distant space rocket engine. As if one were on the main deck of a huge spaceship watching space drift by, and the sound of the rocket engines can just be heard
I find this release a lot more rewarding than "Pulse One" due to it been a little bit louder volume wise, and that the textural rumble here is very rewarding and more-ish. Really I could have done with the track been a bit longer, but I guess you could just loop it over & over.
The 3 inch CDR comes in a see through dvd case with a simple small paper inlay at the bottom of the case, this nicely keeps things minimal & opens the track up ones own interruption. So a very worthy second slice of ultra minimal textural noise from this Uk project- I look forward to hearing what Small Hours do next.
