Sado Rituals — Scattered Identity

Scattered Identity severs up a forty-one-minute slice of sub-bass walling from this long-running Polish project. It’s a ‘wall’ that sucks you in from the off, keeping you fixed in its taut & tense grip throughout

This release appears on Portland’s Basement Corner Emissions, which, of course, have a good/ lengthy history of releasing walled noise. It’s a digital-only release – with the cover artwork taking in angular/ abstract figure holding a star-like flower.

The single track comes in at just over the forty-one-minute mark. It’s built around a tautly hovering/ simmer bass drone, which is edged with fixed-yet-faint industrial churning, and thinly fed jittering. The whole thing feels very oppressive, heavy, yet stripped in its presence- with the ‘wall’ as a whole giving me creeping through a claustrophobic air vent, with sweat dripping into your eyes & an overwhelming coppery blood taste in your mouth.

If you're in the market for oppressive & tense walling, that is as moorish as it is pressingly unforgiving, then Scattered Identity will fit the bill. And it’s great to see Sado Rituals still releasing rewarding wall-craft, some seven or so years into their tenure.
