RDKPL/Hana Haruna — Split
Here’s a wall noise split bringing together Czechia’s RDKPL, and Portland’s Hana Haruna. Each project severs up two tracks, running ten mins a picec- with the former presenting us with dense/ malfunction ‘walls’. And the latter more layered/ nuanced take on the genre.
This is a digital affair on Basement Conner Emissions- who are one of the more wall noise friendly labels around. For cover art work we get a greyed pictured of what looks like circle and squared patterned concrete wall.
So first up we have the two RDKPL tracks. First is “260207_05 HloubkaNW” this ‘wall’ brings together rushing lows and cluttering/ thinner rattles. Ever so often the whole structure of the ‘wall’ morphs/ judders, bringing to mind a malefaction hard drive, or some form of warped retro tech. Next is “260207_05 HloubkaNW” here we find a mix of jittering/ semi liquid rush, constantly rolling-if-murky bass, and chopping judder. It’s the jittering element that is seemingly the most warped/ wavering of the textures, and this brings to mind many weird angled water jet spraying.
The last two tracks are of course from Hana Haruna. First we have “Takeda Tomoka” here we find a mix of swirling micro jitter ‘n’ slice and wind baying ‘n’ water rushing- with these distant ( I think) sound track cues/ possible dialogue samples- though this element is so, so buried it’s very difficult to define. Next is “Kawata Hina” this brings together these sort of constantly whip steel tape elements, a rolling-almost- harmonic bass drone, and this weird knocking/ tumbling subtones, which at points almost becomes rhythmic.
All in all this is a most rewarding split- with each party offering up two rewarding, fairly distinctive walls. Another worthy wall release from Basement Conner Emissions.
