RatéOdieux

[Self release — 2025]

Odieux serves up two eighteen-minute slices of hope-numbing & seriously nihilistic HNW from this Bordeaux-based project. With each wall being as sonically searing & audibly roasting as the each other.

This is a self-released digital affair. For the cover artwork, we have a monochrome picture of a set of square boxes, which looks like a huge grid of tower blocks taken from above. The album can be found here

First up, we have “Odieux 1” here we find a constantly set/ rapid mix of rushing judder and swirling billow with an undercurrent rattling churn. It certainly is a simple, but densely overwhelming wall, which effectively blocks out your surroundings.

The other track here is “Odieux  2” where we are presented with a blend of tightly wound bass churning, flagpole-like rattling, and gainy jitter. I don’t know why, but I’m getting an image of trying to climb up the side of a mountain in a wind-buffing/snow-stinging storm.

If you are looking for walled noise that will give you total and complete audio numbing, then Odieux will appeal.
