Raté — Manque

Manque severs up two around twenty-minute tracks from this Bordeaux-based project. The first focuses on thick droning ‘n’ hacking walling. And the second is a blend of slurred bass pelt and grainy jittering.

This is a digital self-release. For the cover art, we get a simple but effective enough blend of static grain and minimal text.

So we open with “Le Manque”- here we find a rapid blend of rolling static, muffled drone, and constant mid-range hack 'n' churn. Together these elements create a decidedly airless and taut feel- the wall carries on its constricting drone and hack for just under nineteen minutes mark. Making it the shorter of the two tracks on offer here.

The second track is “Me Manque “- which comes in at just over the twenty-two-minute mark. Here we find a mix of thick cable-bound pelt, grainy jittering static, and light hissing/ galloping. I really like the blend of textures here- as they balance pelting grain and intensity well.

So all in all, Manque is another consistent release from Raté – who are one of the more prolific, yet consistent wall projects in the euro scene at present.
