Rapace — Liminal Nightmares
Liminal Nightmares blends billowing, baying, and droned-out wall noise with an undercarriage of uneasy, creepy, and downright horrifying found sound/ sampling.
Rapace is a project from Piedmont, Italy- going from its Bandcamp page, it’s been active since 2019- put out around one hundred releases. Liminal Nightmares is a single-track self-released digital affair.
The single track featured here is entitled “Limen”, and runs for just under twenty-five minutes. The whole thing is set on a base of murky/ steadily galloping walling- which is blunt & billowing in its setting. Underneath this constant grey & tunnelling flow we get a selection of sounds- which are often distant just/ heard, making the whole thing even more eerie. There are what sound like weird growls, troubling & vein-straining screams, sounds of someone or something falling in water, uneasy taps, animalistic wails, weird/ unsettling voices, and even the occasional horror soundtrack cue dart.
Liminal Nightmares is a real horror-filled trip into wall craft- where the blunt noise scaping meets hellish & uneasy soundscape. And as far as I can recall, this is my first taster of the project- and most certainly won’t be my last
