Rafael Anton Irisarri — Daydreaming

Daydreaming feels like eclectronica/come Idm reimagined on to  the piano, with folishers of cinematic atmospherics. Coming from the Miasmah label whose aim is to be at the forefront of the blurring classical and electronic music genres.

Daydreaming is a passable enough debut effort with some good ideas and haunting moods on offer in the first few tracks, with minimal synth and electronics keeping a background presence over the moody and elegant piano richness. Rafael Anton Irisarri has seemingly managed to carve his own sound out here that falls some where between mood music and filmatic vibes. The problem comes with the length of the album which just hits over the half an hour mark, and  the latter tracks that sadly just seemed to have been put together to fill in time and really are no more than vague sound sketches, which does rather feel rather a let down after the strong start. It will be interesting to see how his future works pan out and develop.

Never the less worth a look if you’ve enjoyed the other releasers on the Miasmah label. It’s nice to see the label carving out the only particular niche, which I’m sure will bear more rich musically fruits in the future.
