Sonikillage Volume 1 is a wacky & decidedly retro focused sonic collage/ loop based release. The 33 track CDR brings together old ad jingles,  snippets lo-fi  80’s electronica, melted TV channel themes from 70’s/ 80’s British TV,  public service announcements, animal noise over sparse beats, quirky film dialogue samples, laughter, and all manner on quirky ‘n’ melted flotsam & jetsam.

The release appears on kovoroxsound- which is of course the long term label of Scottish noise maker & sonic experimentalist Lea Cummings( of Kylie Minoise, and many other projects). It’s not clear  who is part of the Official Music Team- but I suspected it’s Mr Cummings and a few of his buddies.

As you'd expect with collage type releases the tracks here are mostly fairly short & sharpe, coming in between the one to two minute mark each. With only one track "Flocking" ( which suitable features a layered field recording of  flocking birds) coming in at the more lengthy 6.52 mark.

To get the most of this  release I think you’d really need to have grown up in 70’s/ 80’s Britain, as that’s where most of this stuff comes from. And when playing back it comes across as a dada semi melted multi- colour sonic ice pop snapshot of those times. On the whole the release nicely keeps your attention held through-out, and if you enjoy retro fuelled sonic collaring with a 70’s/ 80’s tilt this really must be checked out.
