Nascitari — Sepolcro Saturo
The cdr comes in fittingly grim slightly over sized paper sleeve, which is in a clear plastic baggie. The sleeve features two blurred & murky black ‘n’ white pictures- both pictures seem to be of a collapsed & derelict cremation oven in some form of underground bunker.
The track on offer here comes in at just eight seconds over the forty minute mark, and it’s certainly one of the more active & textural shifting tracks I’ve heard from this project. It all starts off with lo-fi subterranean loops of rumbling ‘n’ raw noise that are hovered over by this weird almost backwards sounding murky vocal texture. Then with-in just over a minute we’re dropped into a mixture of roasting ‘n’ billowing walled noise- buried underneath this is some high pitched seers ‘n’ scalds that can just be heard. As the track progresses Nascitari shifts the ‘walls’ focus from reeling billows, to drilling circular sears, onto descend chugging judders, through to mix of rolling judders & contained textural rips. The shifts with-in the ‘wall’ appear ever so offten- sometimes Nascitari shift textures with in a few mintues, and at other times in stay locked in a 'wall' pattern for maybe five to six mintues. but through-out the tracks length the ‘wall’ remains very solid & dense in it’s feel. The last ten or so minutes seems to find the ‘wall’ locking down into a fairly tight if rather uninteresting mixture of churning judder & billowing roasting.
On the whole this is an intense & nasty slice of fairly active walled noise that’s as pained & grim as Nascitari other work. I just felt at times it was a little too random & unfocused for it’s own good; which for me rather lessened the tracks power & also left my mind wondering from time to time. And even when it does settle down a little more I found the textures created felt often a little uninspired & lacklustre….so not my favourite release by this project, but certainly worth a look if you’re a collector of this projects other work
