Nascitari — Cariddi
A Cariddi( or Charybdis in English) is a huge sea monster from Greek Mythogy that looked like a cross between a dragon, a Snake and a man. And the front cover of the release there's a picture of a Cariddi swallowing it’s own tail in an vast oceanic whirlpool. The just under forty two minute track on offer here gives one the feelling of a huge roaring and descending whirlpool that just seems to go on & on.
The is track fairly rapid paced in it’s feel, and it’s ‘wall’ is built around a roaring & descending noise drone which has slightly billowing yet juddering second noise roar tied to it. These two elements are locked together into a unmoving wall of sound for the tracks full runing time.
As a whole the ‘wall’ is enveloping enough & the whole sea monster theme is original/ interesting, but sadly the track rather lacks that magic & allusive element that makes great HNW so entrancing- it’s ok for the first twenty of so minutes, but after that point my attention starts to wane.
