Nar — Silent Treatment
The release comes in the form of a CDR, that comes a simply card sleeve. It’s front cover features a black & white line drawing that takes in a descending tunnel of a massed black lines, which thicken towards the centre where there’s a grave shape white hole. The artwork is done from Norwegian noise maker Andreas Brandal( solo work, Hour Of The wolf, Flesh Coffin, House Of Bats), & it’s a most apt visual interpretation of the track with-in.
The tracks built around a mass of jittering ’n’ juddering static textures that carry-on piling on top of each other in a fairly rapid & un-stoppable manner. These noise textures all have a very similar tonally mid to lower ranged feel to them. These tones crowd around & press in on you like endless piles of grey earth hitting your coffin, as your still alive body is lowered deeper & deeper into the ground. From time to time some of the tones seem jitter or almost stop/ start in the feel, yet the ‘wall’ always stays unrelenting & fixed.
I’ve rather enjoyed the first three or so releases that this project has put out, and once again this is another effective bit of ‘wall-making’ from the project. This is not my favourite release from the project( that honour goes to “Death Fetish”), but “Silent Treatment” keeps you grimly (yet enjoyable) locked-in for it’ s full running time.
