Micheal Cashmore — Sleep England

Micheal Cashmore has been a long time collaborator and musically complement  to David Tibet folk come industrial apocalyptic rumblings of  Current 93. Here he steps back from Mr Tibet to create a solo album of pleasant well written & tuneful guitar tracks,which will appeal beyond current 93 and neofolk fan base.

From the opening notes anyone whose ever heard any Current 93 material  will recognise the guitar tone, but Cashmore has managed to imbed more of his own personality and vision and depth of melody here. So instead of this coming off like a collection of  Current 93 tracks with out vocals, It works an entity in it’s own right.The songs going from relaxing, barren to emotional tinged. All of the tracks highlight booth  Cashmore’s  ability  write great melodies and as a clever mood maker. Using his instrument in wonderful ambient and mood setting manner, guitar harmonics sing and wonderful ornate layers of guitar work mesh together. Cashmore touches down not surprising in folk tones, but also moves into more bluesy heart felt guitar work, to hovering tones of ambient acoustic sheen.

Of interest to anyone who enjoys well written and thoughtful emotional music. And all those in the past who'd be put off by David Tibet love or hate vocals should pick up this ,accomplished  and emotional instrumental guitar album.
