Marek x Marchof — Funeral Musik For You And Me
The album takes in seven tracks, and these have a runtime of four & eleven minutes. These move from the pulsing ‘n’ slightly tone shifting synth , meets churning ‘n’ minimal electro starkness of the opening track Ezoterascopick "(40.696095°N 73.905029°W)". Through to chopping lo-fi industrial beats, mumbled vocals, and wondering goth bass line of "40.69.572-73.90342". Onto the taut & chopping 80’s film chase panicked synth vibe of 40.699511°N 73.911166°W. Through to the sour ‘n’ unwell electronic & locked jazz honk meets wave field recordings of "40.6937°N 73.9833°W". It’s fair to say that through-out the album many tracks here do feel somewhat underdeveloped, and jam-like; but there is some effective atmospherics at play here from time to time.
So in summing up if you enjoy 70’s/80’s synth based (mainly) instrumental music with a often sparse feel, and sometimes avant-grade edge you might find something to enjoy here- it’s just on the whole as an album this feels a little inconsistent & half drawn in places. This certainly isn’t as good as Marchoff’s recent work with 23 Threads, but it has its moments.
