Lunar Abyss Deus Organum — A Sherpa's Sleep Is More Milk Music
Lunar Abyss Deus Organum is a Russian based project that has been active since around 2006- and as far as I can gather it’s always been the solo project of Evgeny Savenko-since it’s started it’s released around thirty or so release. Though Savenko has been active since 2000 with seemingly his first project Lunar Abyss- which has released a load more releases, so I’m guessing Lunar Abyss Deus Organum is a spin-off from this original main venture present a slightly different sound.
I guess the best way to describe what we have here is something similar to the more stripped-back & lengthy compositions of Nurse With Wound- say something like Salt Marie Celeste, but with a more pronounced psychedelic leanings. The five tracks here have runtimes between three & twenty-four minutes, and basically, with each track, Savenko presents us with a selection of largely repetitive elements, which are built-up, then sometimes pared back. The elements take in wavering & at warbling drones, weird textured sounds, bird & human baby field recordings, and muffled vocalizing. Some of the tracks feature a more pronounced percussive elements, and these move from slurred electronica focused or ritual, though these elements are large lo-key. From track-to-track, there is enough variation to make the whole thing move by in a pleasing/ not too samey manner- though it still does feel like a whole/ focused album.
This been one of your more psychedelic ambient focused release, it probably helps if one is chemically altered to get the most out of it, but from a (fairly) straight unclouded mind I say the more worthy/ effective moments here come in the form of the following. “Zazemlya( feat Tanith)” this begins with a distant strutting beat texturing & a muffled foreign voiced man chattering- by around the second minute a more floral/ spectral ambient drone drift has launched, and this is fairly soon joined by sways of reverb wash, gentle wind chime strikes & bird song twitter- all making for a very heady eleven-minute ride. “Dadada” which is a three-minute blend of buzzing & malevolent electro tones, haphazard ritual drum loop, and a creepy baby chattering.
So if you looking for sly, lulling & often low key ambeince with a rather produced psychedelic leaning to it I’d say give A Sherpa's Sleep Is More Milk Music a try, though as I said early I’d imagine the best way to enjoy this is tripped-out on something…so if you do that type of thing I’m sure this will be even more appealing
