K11/Pierto Riparbelli and Philippe Petit — The Haunting Triptych
the Haunting Triptych is droning dark ambience at the best it can be here. Lots of wordless vocals in the background treated with reverb and echo. Petit adds some Processed acoustics, electronics, turntables and glass manipulations (whatever that is) to the whole scheme of things. I think I actually hear horns on the first track, or is it my imagination? Whatever, there's plenty of dark, foreboding low end that gives this recording an edge. There's just so much going on here, it's amazing how they managed to fit it all into a disc.
Indeed this could be the sonic post-apocalyptic landscape dark-ambient fans could be searching for. Everything on the Haunting Triptych is so alien, so unlike anything I've heard before. If the painter Francis Bacon ever made a movie, this would be the soundtrack.
