Jazkamer — The Monroe Doctrine

‘The Monroe Doctrine’ is the third album of  twelve  full length albums that will  be released through-out 2010 by the highly creative & respected noise/general experimental  project Jazkamer. This album is taken up by one long thirty minute track, which I guess is best described as pounding and careering rock & slightly hardcore jam with some shifting noise textures…think one of the more rewarding and fun tracks off Merzbow’s 13 Japanese Birds albums, but with a bit more of a  rock/ hardcore jam feel and you’ll be close.

The whole track really is just careering and manic mesh of: pounding drum runs and crashing cymbals, layers of flayed guitar whines, sears and burns. Waves and sheets of grating, slicing & boiling electronics, and really what ever else they have sitting around and fancy thrown into the chaos.  The track is just constantly 'going hell for leather' as Jazkamer attack their sound tools with sometimes speedy, but always careering & manic glee. Clearly all concerned with making ‘The Monroe Doctrine’ are having a hell of a good time letting off some stream. And this feeling also transfers to the listener- this is the kind of record you want to smash things up to and basically just let lose to.

The track remains thick, dense and full with guitar, drums, cymbals and noise through-out; with the pace going from quite speedy and unhinged hardcore like to slightly less speedy and ‘hit everything’ you can manic improv like. It keeps you entertained, pumped-up and on the edge of your seat through-out and there’s some quite neat elements in the car crash mess of sounds and rhythms on display here.

The albums frount and back cover artwork is quite neat too and it fits the feel of the tracks muilt layered noise attack very well as it’s made up of complex black ‘n’ white line drawings of shapes and vast structures. So if your in the mood to let off stream & rip loose pick-up ‘The Monroe Doctrine’ turn up it to maximum volume and jump into the enjoyable chaos of it all.
