Jaennerwein — Abendlaeuten

Jaennerwein are a new Austrian folk band from the Salzburg area that mix together the alpine folk sound of bands like Sturmpercht & Falkenstein with neo-folk and old school folk elements along with often quite cinematic and atmospheric leanings.

The instrumental sound through-out the album is often quite rich and often epic with the songs been centred around strummed & proud acoustic guitars that are melodic yet stern in presence and are weaved  around by the likes of: flutes, lyra and violins, vibe pitter-patter, harmonica, accordion, martial-drums, subtle electronics and of course rich male Germanic vocals that are built into sweep stern yet earthy banks of harmonising. The tracks for the most part are fairly up-beat and though not as varied, quirky or experimental as say the likes of Sturmpercht; the songs are all well written, put together and memorable in there own right

Another very well put together, conceived and highly enjoyable Germanic folk releases from the Heimfolk label which is of course linked to both the excellent Ahnstern/ Percht and Steinklang record labels
