Ikodora '65 — De Eerste Steen
The release comes in the form of a CDR in a small/ slim DVD plastic case, which features quite quirky photo collage work that takes in: A boy with a toy sword looking cross, electricity pylons, Big Muff effects peddle, and a stag deer!
The single self titled track on offer here comes in at just shy of the twenty two minute mark. The ‘wall’ comes straight in with an taut/wide awake two or three layer mix of noise/texturing. Firstly we have mid-range line of mid-paced crackling & fairly even static, around/ over this you have a slightly crisper/ wondering line of jittering to worming static. These two elements create this highly entrancing & seemingly detailed 'wall' that really seems to suck you deeper & deeper into it the longer it goes on. Though the ‘walls’ structure is relatively fixed over its full length, Koning subtle & skilfully manipulates & moves the layers to create this wonderful captivating & rewarding slice of HNW/ texture noise.
In it’s last few moments the track suddenly shifts into a thicker more uniformed type of ‘wall’, so maybe this is a hint that this is maybe the first of a series of releases.
All told this is a very satisfying slice of walled noise that’s alive with rewarding textural detail & subtle shifting layers. Another very worthwhile release from Mr Koning, and another great release on the highly consistent Muzikaal Kabaa label.
