Half Movement / Sado Rituals — Strategy & Tactics
Strategy & Tactics is a split bringing together two Eastern European wall noise acts. Each offers up two tracks which hit around the ten-minute mark, with a general focus on blending low-end with muffled/ distant textural fare.
This is a digital release appearing on Poland's Gates of Hypnos. For cover art, we have an abstract picture made out of yellow, blue and white static.
So first out of the gate we have the two tracks from Montenegro’s Half Movement. First is “Null Strategy 1”; here we find a blend of constantly sub-bass purr, rolling/ slightly tumbling hiss, and a few bothersome ‘n’ blunt subtones. The ‘wall’ feel is both constricting, yet oddly organic- bringing to mind images of standing under a waterfall, as a series of huge trucks driving on the road above- weird set of imagery I know, but that’s what I’m getting. Next is “Null Strategy 2”; here we find a low-end droning purr blended with distant knocks, slides, and drags- here I’m getting a very decidedly macabre imagery of a weathered & worn electricity generator covered in slowly crawling bodies- which are both trying to get off, but can’t resist being away from it either.
Next we have the two tracks from Poland’s Sado Riutal’s. First is “Infinity Tactics 1”. Here we find a blend of constant tumbling low end, distant rush, and lumpy rumble. This track has a decidedly aquatic quality to this wall- imagery wise I’m getting the side of a huge, hulking ship slowly sinking as someone rushes along it trying to get off. Next/ finally is “Infinity Tactics 2” which feels decidedly industrial in its ‘wall’ feel, bringing together a churning old engine purr, stabbing splutters, rattling cog tatters, etc.
If you're in the mood for bass-bound walling meets hazed texturing, then Strategy & Tactics will be your thing.
