Grimoire de Occulte — Ajna:Transmissions
Ajna:Transmissions is seemingly the 9th release from this Übach Palenberg, Germany two piece project who blend elements of dark ritual sound, ambience, and blacked industrial tone. It’s a CD release- taking in a slowly developing/ shifting thirty eight minute track.
It appeared in July of 2025 on Dunkelheit Productions- in a edition of just ninety nine copies. The disc comes presented in a slim A5 sized digipak- this is monochrome affair featured blurred/ pixelated images of what might be trees. Inside we get a short write-up about the track, and how can be used to open up ones third eye / pineal gland.
The single track featured here runs at 38.33. It opens with a blend of sustained retro synth purr & a ringing/ rattle, with fairly soon slow, steady, and booming ritual drum hits been added. As the track progresses the drums dip in & out- with occasional percussive rattle ‘n’ hiss too.
Over the pieces nearing forty-minute runtime, the pair effective build up a feeling of pressing & dark occultism. With slowly shifting shadowlike layers of hoover synth tones, warbling billows, and sudden scattershot percussion hits. At around the 17th minute we start to make out the slowly fading in sound of slowly dragging & swirling metal chains, which later on takes on an almost eerier water flowing feel.
It must a good while since I’ve heard a long form piece of dark ritual ambience, and Ajna:Transmissions is certainly a worthy addition to the genre- with the slurred/ grimly pressing industrials touches nicely adding to the whole thing. As for comparisons, I’d say a more pared back/ ambient take on MZ.412.
