Gianluca Becussi & Fabio Orsi — Wildflowers Under the Sofa
This is the third album from this Italian pair & it utilizes guitars, old keyboards, field recordings and sound objects to carve its highly involving and rewarding three long tracks. Each track like a sonic adventure in its own right but also part of the bigger sonic picture of the album as a whole. As the pair aptly drift through harmonic and emotional charged guitar scapes & repetition, ambient drones and melancholy drifts of lost sound, memory triggering subtle sound collages & growing sonic walls of emotion and passion. There’s an real artist ear present though out, not one sonic element, harmonic stroke or instrumental pattern is out of place it all flows with such depth and understand of how to effect and enthral the human mind.
Really a breath-taking, memorable and very moving near on 50 minute sonic ride that takes you effortless on an highly emotional varied, textural clever and sonic rich trip. An album that I’ve already returned to time and time again, one of last years slow burning classics.
