Ghost — Building The Night
The plain 3inc CDR comes in a mini plastic slip sleeve, and features a folded paper cover- on it’s front is a monochrome grid, and thinner line slashes. The back takes in texts & web links.
Featured here is just a single track entitled “ Building The Night”- this comes in at the 19.21 minute mark. The ‘wall’ offers up a bassy, crude & lumbering rumble- this is weaved by a more rapid static judder ‘n’ tumble. Through-out the tracks length these are set into a fairly set matt of noise, which is both brutal yet weighty in its attack. The lumbering bass element brings in a quite a brooding & menacing vibe, where the judder ‘n’ tumble adds urgency to the whole thing. To my mind the whole brings to mind someone been slowly chased through crumbing & dusty underground tunnels, with the chaser never fully caught up but always snapping at the heels of the one being chased.
It’s great to see a new release from Ghost, as this it’s one of Julien early projects. And all in all it’s another worthy, brutally moorish, yet atmospheric bit of wall-craft.
