George & Caplin — He Really Got Through to Advertising
Through out the albums relatively short lengthy (just sly of half an hour) it mangers to sound dreamy, wonky, tuneful & strangely compelling with an deeply almost narcotic quality about it, you could well find you self with this on repeat for a few hours at a time with out feeling pained or bored . Theirs just something you cant quite put your finger on that makes this so addictive & fresh sound yet at the same time very familiar- the wavering tunes and instrumental stagers seem to ripple through your mind giving you a comfy yet slight sad feeling.
The tracks are split half and half between vocal and instrumental tracks- when the singing appears its best described as a drowsy/ geeky take on Mary and Daisy chain indie mumble often threaten to get swallowed by the guitar whales, with the odd burst of awkward yet felt harmonies. With the woozy and tuneful musical air being built around a mix drum machine pre-sets, wavering analogue synths, electric and acoustic guitars and lo-fi psychedelic sound tricky/ whirls and the odd appearance of harmonica too.
George & Caplin certainly manage to weave a very enjoyable & original mix of sounds, so invite G&C in to your life, you’ll be glad you did. Though sadly this is ltd to only 250 copies been part of Beta- Lactam Rings Black series- so I advise you act fast.
